Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is in Galicia, the western region in Spain and the west coast of Europe. The western cape in the continent was called by the Romans: Finisterre, "the end of the Earth". Taking a bit of free time and with luck on the weather, Galicia has the most beautiful beaches in Spain, where the Atlantic reaches the land. The beaches are protected from the wild sea because of its location in the Rias.

How to get to Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is located in the northwestern corner of Spain and is the cultural and political capital of the autonomous region of Galicia.

By plane

There are daily trains linking the city with Madrid, San Sebastián, Hendaye and Barcelona. With one change, there are also daily routes to Barcelona, Bilbao, Portugal and Paris and to almost all the major destinations in Spain.

Northwest highway A-6: connects Galicia with the rest of Spain through the province of Lugo (link to Santiago through the AP-9, in the vicinity of A Coruña).

Atlantic motorway AP-9 : connects Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Ferrol, Pontevedra , Vigo, Tui and Portuguese border .

Rias Baixas motorway A- 52: Galicia communicates with the rest of Spain through Ourense.

Cantabrian motorway A- 8: connects Galicia with France through the Cantabrian coast (link to Santiago through the Northwest highway A-6).
